Jefferson LandWorks Collaborative is an innovative network of organizations in Jefferson County, WA that work strategically to keep our rural landscape economically viable.  Our eight partners offer landowners a variety of tools to assist them in business planning, resource conservation, education, technical assistance, marketing and more.  Our unique and creative approach to land preservation and rural economic development has been praised and replicated throughout the Northwest. 

 

FARMLAND:
A CHANGING LANDSCAPE
  •  An estimated 70% of all farmland will change hands in the next 20 years;  
  • More than half of all farmland in the the U.S. is owned by people over 65 years of age;
  • 4% of landowners own over 50% of all U.S. farmland; 
  •  Every minute of every day, two acres of farmland is lost to development;  
  •  Average land values have doubled in the past 10 years nationally, and increased 10X in some areas.
